Address at the time of enlistment was 28 Victoria Street, North Melbourne, Victoria and was employed with the Victoria Railways as a Sailmaker. After the war he lodged an application form for Naturalisation in which he stated to be Russian (Sett) descent. 

Arrived in Australia on 16 December 1915 aboard Protector disembarking at Williamstown, Victoria

Son of Peter Sevald of 41 Saulen Street, Riga, Russia

Commenced return to Australia on 19 June 1919 aboard HMAT Miltiades disembarking on the 5 August 1919
