Son of Samuel Orr and Sarah Orr nee Gunn of Dookie, Victoria later of Albert Street, Footscray, Victoria.

During 1916c William married Veronica Melinda Ogilvie in Paddington, NSW. Address at the time of enlistment was lenview Street, Paddington, NSW.

Commenced return to Australia on 11 May 1919 aboard HT Borda disembarking on 27 June 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Sydney

Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal

Post war he was a member of the Maroubra RSL Sub Branch and is believed to have been awarded Life Membership
