Military Medal
'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during operations near ZONNEBEKE on 26th September, 1917. He acted as stretcher bearer and did marvellous work rescuing and carrying in wounded under an intense barrage and enemy machine gun fire which cost us fifty percent of our stretcher bearers. The courage and devotion of these gallant men was the theme of admiration of all members of the Battalion and to see their wonderful work recognised would give great satisfaction to the Battalion.'
