Biography contributed by Stephen Brooks

His brother, 2412 Pte. Albert Victor Wheatley 40th Battalion AIF, later died of sickness on 11 February 1917, aged 24, in England.

They were the sons of Jane and the late Hiram Charles Wheatley of Brighton, Tasmania. Their father Hiram had passed away in 1902 when they were just boys.
