WW1

Robert Alec was the 2nd of 3 brothers who all enlisted in WW1. He was added to the strength of 13th Battalion and eventually went to serve in France. He was at the battle of Pozieres, wounded and later died of the wounds.

The eldest Albert Raymond was appointed a Lieutenant in the 20th Battalion and served in France. At Pozieres he was wounded, and awarded the Military Cross for his actions there. Later, promoted to Captain, he was wounded in a further action and died.

The youngest brother, aged only 15 but gave his age as 19, was the first to enlist and served at Gallipoli with the 13th Battalion. Later he transferred to the Camel Corps and served the remainder of the war in the Middle East, rising through the ranks with promotion to WO2. Discharged in Australia late in 1918. Re-enlisted for service in WW2 as private, quickly promoted to Cpl, sent to Greece to fight the Germans and died of wounds after the convoy he was in was bombed by German Stukas. Buried in Phaleron cemetery Athens Greece
