Youngest of two brothers who served in WWII, Lance Corporal William George Flint (Service Nos:W20668/WX39709) served with 2 Field Ambulance, initially in the ACMF as a Private (24 February 1941 - 4 June 1943). Lance Corporal Flint was attached to 2 Field Ambulance at Adelaide River in the Northern Territory (21 October 1943 - 17 July 1944), and was Discharged on 27 November 1946.
Bill was born in Perth, Western Australia in 1914, youngest of two children (sons) of Ernest Edwin Flint (b1883 in Bendigo, Victoria) and Margaret Mary Oliphant Jack (b1881 in Aberdeenshire, Scotland) - Margaret immigrated in 1909, arriving in Fremantle on board the Mongolia. Ernest was a Miner and Labourer in the Western Australian Goldfields (Gwalia and Kalgoorlie), and he and Margaret married in 1911 in Perth, where they settled and raised their family. In 1915 Ernest was a Carrier in Perth when he enlisted in the AIF (Corporal; Service No:1571), and following his Discharge, returned to Perth where he worked as a Carrier and Storeman, In 1923 Edwin left Margaret and the children in Perth and moved to Adelaide.
Bill worked as a Labourer and Taxi Driver in Perth, and in 1941 in Denmark married Mavis Walker (b1920 in Kirup, Western Australia). Following his Discharge from the Army in 1946, Bill and Mavis settled in Perth where they raised their family and Bill worked as a Postal Officer (Postmaster Generals Department) and Clerk. Bill died in 1997 and Mavis in 2011
