Youngest of three brothers who served in WWII, Sergeant Roy Bernard Flint (Service Nos:W35329/WX25893) initially served in the ACMF (1 December 1941 - 28 July 1942) as a Gunner (classified Clerk) with 109 and 104 Anti Tank Regiments before enlisting in the AIF - 'in the field' on 29 July 1942 - as a Lance Sergeant attached to 109 Anti Tank Regiment. Lance Sergeant Flint served with 112 Anti Tank Regiment, and was attached to 2/13 Field Coy RAE on 17 April 1945 when he embarked from Cairns for Morotai on board the Sea Sprite en route for service in Tarakan. Lance Sergeant Flint embarked from Tarakan for Sydney on board the Glory on 23 December 1945, and on 22 July 1947 was promoted to Sergeant with AHQ Directorate of Psycholgy as a Psychological Examiner (Recruit Training). Sergeant Flint was Discharged on 29 April 1948, and re enlisted in Perth in January 1949 as a Sergeant with AHQ Directorate of Psychology.
Roy was born in Perth, Western Australia in 1916, third of four children (and youngest of three sons) of William Burrows Flint Jnr (b1881 in Bendigo, Victoria) and May Theresa Nielsen (b1885 in Adelaide, South Australia). William and May had both been living in Gwalia via Kalgoorlie when they married in Boulder in 1910 - William was a Prospector. In 1912 William and May moved to Perth, where they settled and raised their family and William was a Salesman.
Roy worked as a Stenographer in North Perth before enlisting in the Army in 1941. Following his Discharge in 1948, Roy lived in North Perth with his father and older brother Lawrie. His Service Records (NAA) indicate that in January 1949 Roy re enlisted in the Army as a Sergeant with AHQ Dircetorate of Psychology. Roy died in 1995.
