"Two soldiers from Armatree, near Gilgandra, who enlisted on the same day, were killed in battle in France on the same day — October 5. These were Corporal Roy McGill, son of Mr. R. McGill, of Ashburn, and Private Ernest Owens, son of Mr. Alex Owens. Mr. Owen's other two sons are on active service." - from the Orange Leader 01 Nov 1918 (nla.gov.au)
