Husband of Mrs Florence H Crakanthorp, 'Newbiggin', Manly, New South Wales
Lied about his age to enlist.
His wife died in 1919 and he remarried to Mary Ann CRAKANTHORP
Mr. Lawrence Spencer Crakanthorp, a former champion chess player, died at his residence in Vivian-street, Manly, yesterday, in his 73rd year. On many occasions he was a member of the State chess team. In his younger days he was a fine athlete, and had played cricket with Spofforth and football with C. G. Wade. When he was 57 he enlisted in the infantry and was at the war for four years. He is survived by four daughters and one son. His funeral will leave the residence at 11 a.m. to-day for the Manly Cemetery.
