Sergent Leonard Lancelot Rundle was born on the 5th of December, 1893 in Kulpura to parents James Rundle and Fanny Florence Daniel. He served in the 48th Battalion serving in the First World War.    

Leonard was the third-born child and grew up in Kulpara with his three other siblings being one of four. He was educated at Kulpara before pursuing a career as a farmer. 

Leonard enlisted in Adelaide on the fourth of July 1916 and a month later embarked on his journey without conducting any previous military training before joining the war for his country. He embarked in Adelaide on the 28th of August 1916 in the HMAT A68 Anchises. Leonard disembarked at Plymouth on the 11th of October 1916 before moving to Godford for further training. He was taken on strength in France 5th February 1917. 

Leonard moved through the ranks, promoted to Lance Corporal 28th May 1917 and then Corporal 26th August 1917. A couple of months later he was promoted to Sergeant on 27th October 1917.

Leonard was killed in service in France and sent to hospital then finally dying at age 24 on the 23rd of August 1918. He had gunshot wounds to the head and was sent to 1st Southern General Hospital Kings Health Section, Birmingham England. Lodge Hill Cemetary is where Leonard is buried and is on screen wall B.10, 291 in Birmingham England. 

A stained glass window in the Kulpara church was dedicated to the memory of Sergt. Leonard L. Rundle. Leonard received a victory medal for his efforts in the war and a Memorial Scroll.
