Clarence was born in Richmond, Tasmania on 9th September, 1893

His parents were George FENNER & Hannah FLECKNER

He enlisted in Claremont, Tasmania on 3rd October, 1916 & embarked from Melbourne with the 40th Infantry Battalion, 5th Reinforcement on 25th October, 1916 on the HMAT Ulysses

Clarence died of pneumonia at Fargo Hospital in England on 14th January, 1917 and is buried in the Durrington Cemetery in Wiltshire

Died on this date – 14th January……Clarence Floyd Fenner was born at Richmond, Tasmania in 1895.
He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 2nd October, 1916 as a 21 year old, single, Labourer from Richmond, Tasmania.

Private Clarence Floyd Fenner embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on HMAT Ulysses (A38) on 25th October, 1916 with the 40th Battalion & disembarked at Plymouth, England on 28th December, 1916. He had been admitted to Ship’s Hospital on the journey to England for 3 days from 14th November, 1916.

On 28th December, 1916 Private Fenner was marched in to 10th Training Battalion at Durrington, Wiltshire where he would receive further training before being sent to the War Front.

He was admitted to Fargo Military Hospital, Wiltshire on 10th January, 1917 – seriously ill.

Private Clarence Floyd Fenner died at 7.30 a.m. on 14th January, 1917 at Fargo Military Hospital of pneumonia.

He was buried in Durrington Cemetery, Wiltshire, England where 140 other WW1 Australian War Graves are located.
