Gunner William Clarence Dellar (Service No:VX62511) initially enlisted in the ACMF as a Private (Service No:V64346) on 19 March 1941 and served with 7th Infantry Battalion until he Discharged on 27 August 1941 to enlist in the AIF. Gunner Dellar was attached to 2/14th Field Regiment and served in Darwin, NT (6 February 1944 to 18 January 1943). Gunner Dellar then served in New Guinea (Finschaven, Madang and Rabaul) and New Britain (Jacquinot Bay) from 2 January 1944 to 6 January 1946 and was attached to 2/14th Field Regiment at Discharge on 14 February 1946.

Born in Rainbow, Victoria in 1912, Bill was sixth of nine children of Richard James Dellar (b1865 in Bochara, Victoria) and Marion Esther Johns (b1883 in Warracknabeal, Victoria). Richard was a Farmer in Kurnbrunin nr Rainbow when he and Marion married in Jeparit in 1904. They lived in Kurnbrunin and Danyo where they raised their family and Richard was a Farmer until his death in 1935.

Bill worked as a Labourer in Danyo and Mildura before enlisting in the Army. Following his Discharge, he worked in Melbourne as a Factory Employee and in 1949 married Iris Jean Katherine Patrice Hickey (b1917 in Melbourne, Victoria). Bill and Iris settled in Melbourne where Bill was a Factory Worker and Labourer until his death in 1957. Iris died in 2007.
