Albert Edward Carter was born in Salisbury, South Australia. Before he enlisted, he was a motor driver. Albert was 22 when he enlisted in the war. His mum's name was M. Jessie Marjorie Carter, and he lived in Marion.
He joined the 27th Infantry Battalion. He embarked at Adelaide, South Australia, aboard the HMAT Star of England on 21 September 1915. His mum, M. Jessie Marjorie Carter, was his next of kin.
