Son of Donald McDonald Urquhart and Sarah Jane Urquhart nee Wallis of Urana, NSW formally of Nhill, Victoria. Brother of Charles Donald Urquhart who returned to Australia on 29 August 1919 having served with the 1st Machine Gun Battalion.
3 November 1915 - enlisted at Melbourne, Victoria, with the 8th Field Artillery Brigade and with the rank of Private
7 Janaury 1916 - promoted to Gunner
1 April 1916 - transferred to the 8th Field Artillery Brigade with the rank of Corporal
25 July 1916 - transferred to Artillery Details
Husband of Elsie Urquhart nee Williams of 'Newlyn', Linden Road, Swanage, Dorset, England. William and Elsie were married in the Congregational Church, Swanage, Dorset, England. Congregational Minister George Henry Clothier officiated.
30 March 1918 - gassed
24 February 1919 - transferred to the AIF Survey School
20 June 1919 - commenced return to Australia aboard Konig Fredrich August disembarking on 6 August 1919
