Private John Gordon Christian (Service No:V17767) served in the ACMF with 17 Garrison Battalion from 22 July 1941 to 2 September 1945. Sibling Ernest served in WWI and Joseph served in WWII.

Born in Willenabrina, Victoria in 1902, John was fifth of eight children of Henry Christian (b1862 in Gerang Gerung, Victoria) and Emma (Em) Landt (b1873 in Rupanyup, Victoria). Henry (a Farmer) and Em married in 1894 in Aubrey, Victoria and settled in Willenabrina where they raised their family and Henry was a Farmer.

John worked as a Farm Hand and Labourer and in 1924 in Warracknabeal married Selma Lydia Boehm (b1901 in Truro, South Australia). John and Selma settled in Warracknabeal where John worked as a Labourer. John was unemployed with four children in 1941 when he enlisted in the Army. John died in 1978 and Selma in 1992.
