The strap
My father would whip my brother & I with a leather strap,
until Mardi took my folks leave of absence to conduct
a small ceremony one day ~ casting the strap into the
bougainvillea behind the house.
The week my grandmother died of lung cancer, Sandy went
outside to trim the thorny flower & ready property for sale...
when the strap fell from the sky, & apropos, hit him in the head.
Well done Searle.
