Served and suffered during The Great War, resting at Sandgate Cemetery.
52 years ago today, on the 7th November 1973, Private Vincent Rudolph Kidd, 36th Battalion (Reg No-2344), labourer from Tocal Estate, Paterson, New South Wales and Anna Street, West Maitland, N.S.W. (1918) and Mayfield?, N.S.W. (1942) and Dungog?, N.S.W., was laid to rest at Sandgate Cemetery, age 84. CATHOLIC 2-39. 60.
Born at Paterson, New South Wales on the 4th September 1889 as Vince R to William, died 21.1.1903, West Maitland, N.S.W., age 53, buried at St. Paul's Anglican Church Cemetery, N.S.W., no death or funeral notice located, and Matilda Kidd nee Gould, died 14.11.1923, West Maitland, N.S.W., age 70, mother of 13?, sleeping at St. Paul's Anglican Church Cemetery, N.S.W., unsure if there is a headstone for William and Matilda, so has son Sid been memorialised?, from Tocal Estate, Paterson, New South Wales (1914) and Campbell's Hill, West Maitland, N.S.W. (1916) and 47 St Andrews Street, West Maitland, N.S.W. (1920); husband of Ellen (Helen) Kidd nee Farnham, married 1919, West Maitland, N.S.W., died 31.7.1942, Mayfield, N.S.W., age 60, sleeping here, Vince enlisted on the 25th May 1916 at Broadmeadow, N.S.W.
Unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A30 Borda on the 17th October 1916.
Disembarked Plymouth, England 9.1.1917.
Accidently wounded 16.7.1917 - GSW left hand, fractured metacarpal, Belgium.
Admitted to hospital 22.7.1917. Invalided to England 27.7.1917. Admitted to hospital 28.7.1917.
Commenced return to Australia 5.11.1917.
Vince arrived home on the 3rd January 1918, being discharged medically unfit on the 6th February 1918.
Mr. Kidd’s name has been inscribed on the Paterson District War Memorial and the East Gresford School of Arts War Memorial.
I have placed poppies and a 1914-1918 WAR label at Vince’s gravesite in remembrance of his service and sacrifice for God, King & Country.

Younger brother Sidney John Claud Kidd, born 29.10.1891, Tocal Estate, Paterson, New South Wales as Cedric C J, station hand from Tocal, Paterson, New South Wales, enlisted 19.9.1914, 13th Battalion, an Original Anzac, Reg No-865, K.I.A. 7.8.1915, age 23, Gallipoli, name inscribed on the Lone Pine Memorial (Panel 38), Gallipoli, Turkey.
