Lance Corporal Norman Arthur John Crocker (Service No:V4900) served in the ACMF from 2 August 1940 to 4 May 1944 with 17 Garrison Battalion at Tatura Internment Camp. L/Cpl Crocker served in WWI as a Private (Service No:3534).
Norm was born in Warracknabeal, Victoria in 1892, eldest of five children of Thomas Crocker (b1868 in Happy Valley, South Australia) and his first wife Ann (Annie) Steer (b1856 in Geelong, Victoria). Thomas was a Labourer in 1891 when he and Annie married in Geelong. They settled in Warracknabeal where they raised their family and Thomas was a Labourer. Following Annie's death in 1926, Thomas lived in Hopetoun, and in 1935 remarried and settled in Melbourne.
Norm worked as a Farm Labourer in Jeparit, Dromana and Brim and was a Farmer at Wirrbibial via Hopetoun in 1924 when he married Amelia (Millie) May McPherson (b1899 in Warracknabeal, Victoria). Norm and Millie lived in the Hopetoun region where they raised their family and Norm was a Farmer. In the mid 1930s they moved to Warracknabeal where Norm worked as a Labourer and Caretaker. Norm died in 1979 and Millie in 1993.
