Born and educated at Strathpine. He is the son of John Dow and the late Annie McArthur, of Strathpine. Enlisted 10th October, 1917, and went into camp at Brisbane. He sailed by S.S. Euripides, from Sydney, 29th October, for England, where he went into camp for further training. Went to France, and went into action. He took part in the battles of Messines, Spoil Bank, Dernacourt, Villiers Bretonneaux, Sally Ka See, Hamel, St. Quentin, Ican Court. He was slightly wounded, but it did not affect his service in the A.I.F. - from Queenslanders who fought in the Great War.
