Biography

Alexander Gladstone GALLAND was born in 1887 in Glenferrie, Victoria

His parents were John GALLAND and Emily FLINTOFT

He had previous service of 5 years & 5 months with the CMF before he enlisted on 17th August, 1914 with the Australian Army - he was with the 7th Battalion, D Company - Unit embarked from Melbourne on ship Hororata on 19th October, 1914

Alexander was Killed in Action on 4th October 1917 , Belgium- no known grave - he is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial and the Australian War Memorial
