Biography contributed by Daryl Jones

Son of James YEO, Yarnacott, Moss Vale, NSW

The death occured on Tuesday night, at his parents' residence, Yarnacott, Moss Vale, of Mr. John Shapland Yeo, second son of Mr. and Mrs. James Yeo.  The deceased, who was only 31 years of age, was born at Moss Vale, and was extremely popular with a very wide circle of friends.  During the war period he enlisted with the A.I.F. and saw considerable active service on the other side.  Since his return he had not enjoyed good health, suffering a good deal from the after-effects of his hard life in the trenches, and although he did not become seriously ill until last week, his noble young life must be added to the war's dreadful tollas surely as though he had fallen before the enemy's guns.  A few months ago he was appointed to the position of secretary to the Pastures Protection Board at Moss Vale, and in that capacity, as well as in the social life of the town, he will be greatly missed.  The late Mr. Yeo, who was unmarried, leaves father and mother, one brother and two sisters to mourn their loss.  The remains were interred on Wednesday afternoon in the Church of England Cemetery at Bong Bong, the service being conducted by the Rev. W.A. O'Neill.  The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. R.B. Simpson.
