Leading Aircraftman John Lewis Robb (Service No:449246) initially served in the ACMF as a Trooper (Service No:170114) with 4th Light Horse Regiment and 4 Motor Regiment from 3 October 1941 to 21 February 1944, when he Discharged 'for the purpose of enlisting in the RAAF' (NAA). He enlisted at No 1 RAAF Recruiting Centre Melbourne as an Aircraftman 1 on 22 February 1944 - mustered as Trainee Technical, remustering as Fitter DMT. ACI Robb served in Morotai, Noemfoor and Tarakan with No 11 Repair and Salvage Unit (R&SU) from 27 April 1945 to 18 January 1946, and was promoted to LAC on 23 July 1945. LAC Robb was attached to No 1 Stores Depot at Discharge on 13 May 1946. Siblings Leo and Percy also served in WWII.

John was born in Colac, Victoria in 1922, youngest of seven children of Angus Robb (b1883 in Garvoc, Victoria) and Rose Westwood (b1883 in Birregurra, Victoria). Angus (a Labourer) and Rose married in 1903 in Colac, Victoria and lived in Cobden, Gerangemete, Yea and Carpendeit, where they raised their family and Angus was a Labourer and Farmer - and in the 1930s, President of the Carpendeit Cricket Club.

John was working in Bungadore via Stoneyford as a Timber Worker when he enlisted in the ACMF in 1941, and gave his occupation as Truck Driver when he later enlisted in the RAAF. Following his Discharge, John was a Truck/Transport Driver in Bungador, and in 1947 in Melbourne, married Miriam Agnes Lycett (b1923 in Melbourne, Victoria). John and Miriam settled in Bungador where they raised their family and John was a Transport Driver. In the late 1970s they moved to Carpendeit, where John worked as a Contractor. John died in 1988 and Miriam in 2011.
