Died on this date - Aust Private Ronald Forestal Anderson was wounded in action in France on 25 August, 1918 then invalided to England. He died at 12.45 am at Sea on Hospital Ship Grantully Castle from wounds. Buried Netley Military Cemetery, Hampshire.

Died on this date - 30th August .......Ronald Forestal Anderson was born at Bullarto, Victoria in 1894.

He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) as a 24 year old Locomotive Fireman from Yarloop, Western Australia.


Private Anderson arrived in England for further training on 3rd March, 1917 & joined 39th Battalion on the front line on 1st September, 1917.

He was wounded in action in France on 25th August, 1918 then invalided to England.


Private Ronald Forestal Anderson died at 12.45 am on 30th August, 1918 at Sea, on board the Hospital Ship Grantully Castle, from gunshot wounds to buttock.

He was buried in Netley Military Cemetery, Hampshire, England where 49 other Australian WW1 Soldiers are buried. Coincidentally 2 other Australian Soldiers died on this date - another in 1918 & an earlier death in 1916.
