Biography

"The relatives of Private Fred du Rieu, formerly a member of the clerical staff of "The Age," have received a cablegram officially reporting his death on 5th May from the effects of gun shot wounds in the head, right knee and left leg. Private du Rieu was greatly' esteemed by his colleagues in "The Age" office, his happy disposition and frankness winning him many friends." - from the Melbourne Age 21 May 1917 (nla.gov.au)
