Father: William Edwin Agland, had a Auction Room and real estate agency, wasan Alderman and was Mayor of Orange in 1910
Home Address: 47 Piesely Street, Orange, NSW, Australia.
He saw action at the second battle of the Somme as well as fighting around Pozieres
He was wounded whilst operating a Lewis machine gun and almost had his feet amputated due to severe trench foot and subsequent gangrene.
Awarded British War Medal, Victory Medal
After the war Captain William Agland served with the 6th Light horse just before the outbreak of World War two. He participated in the re-enactment of the famous WW1 charge on Beersheba in the film “40,00 Horsemen”, which was filmed in Orange
He volunteered and worked for 73 years for the Orange sub-branch of the “returned and Service League” and consequently in January 1971, was awarded a M.B.E for Services to the community
The RSL Museum, Anson Street, Orange is named in his honour
