The eldest of nine children, Arthur was born in Northam WA in 1920 to Edward Aubrey Christmass (b1895 in Northam WA) and Minnie Smith Oliver (b1899 in Northam WA). Edward (aka Aubrey) was a Farmer at Grass Valley in Northam WA in 1920 when he and Minnie married. The couple settled at Grass Valley in Northam to raise their family.
Arthur was a Farmer at Grass Valley in Northam WA in 1939 when he enlisted in the ACMF (Trooper; Service No:W405). He was attached to 10th Light Horse Regiment in July 1942 when he transferred to the AIF (Corporal; Service No:WX26079). Arthur was attached to 34 Works Coy when he was Discharged in June 1946. His father Aubrey (Private; Service No:W73597) and brother Doug (Private; Service No:W40901) also served in WWII, and Doug served in Japan with the Interim Army (Service No:WX500443) from 1946 to 1948.
In 1946 Arthur was a Labourer in Northam WA when he married Beryl Joyce Wishart (b1926 in Kalgoorlie WA). The couple setttled in Northam where Arthur was a Labourer and Grocer. Arthur died in 1995 and Beryl in 2017.
