Biography contributed by Chris Buckley

Aircraftwoman Doris Rosemary Mountford (Service No:113351) enlisted in the RAAF on 8 September 1944 and was attached to 4 Aircraft Depot when she was discharged on 10 May 1945.

Born in 1925 in Cottesloe, Fremantle WA, Doris was the eldest of three children of Arthur Everett Ambrose (b1895 in London, England) and Dorothy Beatrice Netta Clarke (b1899 in Essex, England). Arthur (a Draughtsman) and Dorothy married in 1923 in London and immigrated that year, arriving in Fremantle WA on board the Moreton Bay. The couple lived in Cottesloe, Perth and Guildford where Arthur was a Leadlight Designer and soldier in the Army. Son Everett (LAC; Service No:A5378) served in Korea.

In 1945 in Guildford WA, Doris married Thomas (Tom) Edward Mountford (b1924 in Hay, Wales) - Tom was a LAC in the RAAF. Doris and Tom lived in Collie, Kalgoorlie and Perth before separating in the mid 1960s. Tom moved to Tasmania and Doris worked as a Housekeeper before remarrying in the mid 1970s and settling in Maddington WA. Doris died in  2002.
