One of three brothers who served with the RAAF in WWII, Leading Aircraftman William Edward Walker (Service No:12975) enlisted on 10 February 1941 at No 1 RAAF Recruiting Centre Melbourne as an Aircraftman I - mustered as Trainee Mechanic and re mustered as Flight Mechanic then Fitter. ACI Walker was described in his Attestation Papers as a 'Good type of lad, very keen, well mannered' (NAA 1941). LAC Walker was attached to 7 Aircraft Depot Tocumwal at Discharge on 27 November 1945.

Ted was born in Willaura, Victoria in 1919, fourth of five children of William John Walker (b1881 in Willaura, Victoria) and Sarah Withers (b1883 at Long Gully, Victoria). William and Sarah married in 1913 in Willaura, where they settled and raised their family and William was a Farmer.

Ted worked as a Blacksmith and Contract Labourer in  Willaura, and had served two years with the Willaura Fire Brigade before enlisting in the RAAF. In 1944 in Willaura he married Betty Evelyn Barrett (b1923 in Ararat, Victoria) - Betty was a Postal Worker in Willaura. Following his Discharge from the RAAF, Ted and Betty settled in Willaura, where they raised their family and Ted worked initially as a Motor Mechanic for AM McDonald, before becoming a Farmer in the early 1950s. Betty died in 1978 and Ted in 2010.
