Sergeant Stanley Norman Flint (Service No:45076) enlisted in the RAAF on 19 June 1941 at No 4 Recruiting Centre Perth as an Aircraftman I - mustered as Fitter DMT. In his Attestation Papers he was described as having 'good experience as panel beater, sheetmetal worker and coppersmith. Good knowledge of metals' (NAA). Promoted to Leading Aircraftman in 1942, and then to Corporal in 1943, he was posted to 6 Transport and Movements Office (TMO) Townsville, before serving in Milne Bay and Lae with 1 ORSU in 1944. Sergeant Flint was attached to 4 Aircraft Depot at Discharge on 3 December 1945.
Stan was born in Leonora, Western Australia in 1910, third of five children of James Henry John Flint (b1873 in Bendigo, Victoria) and Florence (Floss) Lavinia Bone (b1878 in Kadina, South Australia). James and Floss married in 1905 in Leonora, where they lived and raised their family and James was a Miner. In 1912 James and Floss moved their family to Perth, settling in Victoria Park where James was a Carrier and a Chaff and Grain Merchant.
Stan completed a five year Apprenticeship with Perth Coppersmithing Co, and worked as a Truck Driver for Eldredge & Flint. In 1937 in Perth, he married his first wife Florence Thomson (b1915 in Abroath, Scotland) - Florence immigrated with her parents and siblings in 1928, arriving in Fremantle on board the Barradine. Stan worked as a Panel Beater (Atwood Motors Perth and Liberty Motors), and in 1941 enlisted in the RAAF. Florence enlisted in the WAAF (Corporal; Service No:111909) in 1944, and following Discharge in 1945, Stan and Florence separated, divorcing in 1947. Stan settled in Perth, where he worked as a Panel Beater, and in 1949 remarried to Margaret Condon (nee Gaynor; b1913 in Perth, Western Australia). Stan and Margaret settled in Perth, where Stan worked as a Panel Beater. Stan died in 1980 and Margaret in 1998.
