A Junior Salesman with Penney's Ltd in Brisbane QLD, when he enlisted in the RAAF in December 1941 (Aircraftman I; Service No:44038)Bruce served as a Wireless Maintenance Mechanic. He was attached to 3 Aircraft Depot when he was Discharged in January 1946. Brother John (Flight Sergeant; Service No:440276) also served in the RAAF.
Born in Melbourne, Victoria in 1921, Bruce was the eldest of four children of Percival (Percy) Crawford (b1891 in Kerang, Victoria) and Elise Alice Duck (b1892 in Ballarat, Victoria). Percy was a University Student in Melbourne in 1916 when he enlisted in the AIF (Lance Corporal; Service No:917) and was Discharged later that year following a compound fracture of his forearm. Percy returned to his studies, and he and Elise (a Saleswoman) married in 1920 in Melbourne, Victoria. Percy worked as a Painter in Melbourne before moving his family to Redcliffe, Brisbane QLD in the late 1930s where he worked as a Contractor.
Following his Discharge from the RAAF in 1946, Bruce was in Sydney NSW when he married Jean Hasselich Coggan (b1922 in Sydney NSW) - Jeanne was a Nurse at Prince Henry Hospital. Bruce and Jeanne settled in Sydney NSW where Bruce worked as a Salesman until the early 1960s when he started working as an Accountant. Bruce died in 1977 and Jeanne in 1982.
