Harry Stanley Cheesman was born on the 9th of March 1896 in Maylands, SA. His Brother was Arthur Cheesman (/explore/people/81043). His Mother was Annie. M. Cheesman. Before he enlisted he was an Engineer. When he enlisted in the Airforce he was 20 years and 8 months old on the 5th of September 1916 in Adelaide. At this time he didn't have a wife or kids so his Mother was put down as his Next of Kin. At the time that Harry enlisted his Mother was living at 128 Magill Rd, Maryland, SA.

When he first enlisted in the Airforce he had prier experience as a Senior Cadet for 5 years and 5 months of AIF service before he was granted a service discharge. He enlisted again for the Great War. Whist getting the medical check up needed to join he was described to having a dark complexion with wavy hair and blue eyes. His religious faith was to the Church of England and he was a Nationalized British subject. After the medical papers were signed on the 4th of September 1916 he officially became an AIF mechanic on the 27th of October 1916.

As a mechanic in the Great war Harry was responsible for making sure that the plane were sound and working right. After a year in Australia Harry sailed to England from Adelaide on the 17th of January 1917. On the 29th of June 1917 he was transferred to 2 AFC which was posted in France.

On the 19th of July 1918 where he was hospitalized. He stayed in France until 8th of November 1918 when he embarked from England. He arrived in Adelaide on the 29th of December 1918 and was discharged from the position of 2 Air Mechanic, 2 AFC on the 16th of March 1919.

He died on the 31st of December 1965 at the age of 69.
