Leading Aircraftman Kenneth William Munyard (Service No:80528) enlisted in the RAAF at No 4 Recruiting Centre Perth as an Aircraftman I on 12 May 1942 - mustered as Flight Mechanic, later Fitter. In March 1943 he was promoted to Leading Aircraftman and was attached to No 7 Service Flying Training School (SFTS) Mallala, 5 Central Recovery Depot (CRD) Mallala and 14 Stores Unit before posting to 4 Aircraft Depot for Discharge on 26 March 1946. Sibling Petro (Sergeant; Service No:406307) served in the RAAF and was KiA in Egypt in 1942.
Ken was born in Wagin, WA in 1924, youngest of two children of William (Bill) George Munyard (b1891 in Broken Hill, NSW) and his second wife Minnie Amelia Jorgensen (b1895 in Melbourne, Victoria). Bill worked as a Grocer in Boulder, WA, and following the death of his first wife Reene in Kalgoorlie in 1913, moved to Fremantle, WA where he was a Grocer. Bill and Minnie married in Fremantle in 1918 and lived in Magill South Australia, and Bruce Rock and Wongan Hills where Bill was a Grocer, Grocer's Assistant and Manager of Co-Op Stores. Following Bill's death in 1929, Minnie moved to Kellerberrin where she raised her children and worked as a Shopkeeper.
Ken was an Apprentice Hairdresser in Kellerberrin when he enlsited in the RAAF in 1942. Following his Discharge, he returned to Kellerberrin where he worked as a Hairdresser. In 1951 he married Constance (Connie) Lillian Bremner (b1923 in Melbourne, Victoria) - Connie was a Nurse in Melbourne in 1949 when she moved to Kellerberrin as a Nursing Sister. Ken and Connie settled in Kellerberrin where they raised their family - Ken was a Hairdresser and Connie a Nursing Sister. In the late 1960s they moved to Perth, where Ken worked as a Hairdresser and Connie as a Nurse. Ken died in 2013 and Connie in 2017.
