Born 28 July 1886 at Walkerville, SA, Florence was the daughter of George Lloyd BARNARD & Frances Emily nee LUCAS of ‘Brightley’ 10 Albert Street, Goodwood.
She graduated at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in 1911 and prior to enlistment was working as a Nurse at the Adelaide Children’s Hospital.
She embarked 06 August 1915 per RMS 'Orontes' from Adelaide at the age of 29 years and enlisted 09 March 1916 at No 4 Australian Auxillary Hospital, Heliopolis, Cairo, Egypt
Served in India, and admitted with Influenza 06 May 1916 to No 2 Australian General Hosptial, she was returned to Australia per ‘Ajana’ 08 December 1916 and granted an Invalid Discharged at own request 25 December 1916
She re-enlisted in 1918, Embarked s.s. "Malta" from Sydney to Bombay 16 October 1918 and was promoted to Sister 1 June 1919.
Embarked s.s. "Plassey" from Bombay to Australia 1 October 1919 and discharged 26 June 1920
Died 19 July 1983 aged 96 years
