Son of Henry Charles Cooper and Evelyn Joyce Caporn of Hector Street, Osborne Park, WA
Husband of Mary Margaret Cooper of Hay Street, Perth, WA nee Brown. James and Mary married during 1915c in Fremantle, WA. Mary died in November 1921
Held the ranks of Temporary Corporal and Temporary Sergeant but each time had his rank to Private following Court Martials
