Son of William George Ottrey and Catherine Ellen Ottrey nee Hume of Gapstead, Victoria.
Brother of Alfred Leslie Ottrey who was killed in action on 9 August 1916 while serving with the 2nd Division Heavy & Medium Trench Battery and has no known grave. His name appears on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial
