RUPERT MILTON KING was born at Burwood, New South Wales, on 2nd May, 1895, the son of Mr. William Milton King and Mrs. Kate Caroline King. He was educated at the Sydney Grammar School, and joined the Bank’s service at the Head Office on 23rd September, 1914.
Rupert Milton King enlisted in 1915, and left Australia in October. He served in England from January, 1916, till May, 1918, and was promoted to second-lieutenant in December, 1917. He was engaged as instructor in aviation and bombing, and in aerial patrol work in Egypt, where he patrolled the coast and Canal until February, 1919. In the previous month he was promoted to lieutenant. He returned to Australia in July, 1919.
