"...2436 Private Eric Shields Mathews, 19th Battalion from Riverstone, NSW. A 25 year old labourer prior to enlisting on 21 July 1915, he embarked for overseas with the 5th Reinforcements from Sydney on 5 October 1915 aboard HMAT Themistocles (A32). He joined the 19th Battalion in France where he was killed in action at Flers on 14 November 1916. Pte Mathews is buried in Warlencourt British Cemetery, France." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
