Sidney Milton Devenish was born at Perth, Western Australia in 1884.

He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.) on 7th February, 1917 as a 32 year old, married, Carter from East Fremantle, Western Australia.

Private Devenish arrived in England on 25th August, 1917 for further training & was posted to 3rd Training Battalion at Durrington, Wiltshire.

He was admitted to Fargo Military Hospital, Wiltshire with Influenza on 9th September, 1917 & discharged on 15th September, 1917.

Private Devenish was transferred from 3rd Training Battalion at Durrington on 7th November, 1917 to 2nd Training Battalion at Sutton Veny, Wiltshire.


Private Sidney Milton Devenish died “suddenly in lines at 2nd Training Battalion”, Sutton Veny, Wiltshire at 3.30 am on 9th February, 1918 from Acute Angio Neurotic Oedema.

He was buried in St. Denys Churchyard, Warminster, Wiltshire.
