Born October 1887 in Abbotsford, Victoria

Father Duncan Brown (d. 1915) and Mother Mary Ellen Brown (d. 1909)

Uncle Henry POWELL (d.26/02/1920 - Mother's brother) and Aunt Mary Jane Powell (widowed).

Duncan lived with his Aunt and Uncle at 80 Charles Street, Northcote,
Victoria on enlisting.
(it was noted that he always looked upon his Aunt and Uncle as parents)

Relatives:
3 sisters - all died in infancy
Uncle (father's side) - William Brown (lived in Adelaide, SA)
Aunt (father's side)  -  Mrs F Barnett (lived in Adelaide, SA)
Aunt (mother's side) - Mrs A Killmier (lived in Adelaide, SA)

Duncan was described on enlisting as 28 years 11 months of age; single; 5' 7" tall;
140 lbs; fair complexion; brown eyes; brown hair; Presbyterian

14/11/1916   appointed to 23rd reinforcements, 7th Infantry Battalion, Royal Park Camp

23/11/1916   embarked Port of Melbourne, VIC onboard HMAT A20 Hororata
                    Private  7th Battalion, 23rd Reinforcement
29/01/1917   disembarked into Plymouth, England

29/01/1917   marched in to 2nd Training Battalion, Folkestone

03/05/1917   proceeded overseas to France
04/05/1917   marched in to 1st A.D.B.D, Etaples, France

07/05/1917   marched out to 7th Infantry Battalion unit

10/05/1917   taken on strength in to 7th Infantry Battalion, France

05/10/1917   killed in action at Broodseinde, Belgium
