Captain Jacob Edwin Hindhaugh of Hampton, Victoria, of the 1st Light Horse, who is reported ill, joined the 11th, Light Horse as a second lieutenant in 1908. He was transferred to  he 2nd Light Horse in 1912 with the rank of lieutenant, receiving his captaincy two years later. In 1910 he was appointed (temporarily)area officer of his district. He is 34 years of age.

Biography

Error in information provided re Embarkation date and vessel.  Jacob Edwin (known as Jack) Hindhaugh boarded the "Wiltshire" in Melbourne on 18 October, 1914 at 3pm. He records in his diary the following entry for this date:
"18-10-14  Melbourne 3pm  – Boarded the troop ship ‘Wiltshire’ with Col. Forsyth, Curley & Wally after saying ‘Good Bye’ to Elsie and the kiddies and Charl. Pulled out from the pier and anchored in the Bay until morning, wrote letter & P.C. home."
