The son of Ellen Hannant of Brixton, England. Christopher had emigrated to Australia as part of the South Australian British Farm Apprentice Scheme 1913-1914 and was working in the Port Broughton area for his sponsor George. E. Pattingale, Fring Farm, Port Broughton.
