At the time that 7484 Pte. Wilfred Edward Hall embarked for overseas service, his father 2430 Pte. Edward Hall (/explore/people/176569) (who died of illness on 16 Apr 1919 in England) had already been more than a year at the front.
"HALL, Wilfrid Edward. Private, No. 7484, 15th Battalion. Born and educated at Tinana, Maryborough. He is the son of Edward Hall and the late Minnie Hall, of Childers, Qld. Enlisted 16th February, 1917, and went to camp on 14th March, 1917. Attached to the 15th Battalion. Sailed for England 14th June, 1917, and arrived 26th August, when he went to Salisbury Plain. He went to France 22nd January, 1918, and went into action. He was gassed 24th August, 1918, and was returned to Australia 2nd March, 1919, and was honourably discharged 29th March, 1919." - from Queenslanders Who Fought in the Great War
