Son of John William M. and Alice Mary Mortimore of Edgehill, Bovey Tracey, Devon, England

He was 29.

His brother fell whilst serving with British forces; he was 45690 Private Charles William N. Mortimore of the 8th Battalion, Devonshire Regiment. Died 2 April 1917. 

They were grandsons of Edward and Mary Cuming of the Town Barton, Manaton; son of Alice Mary (née Cuming) of Fursdon, Bovey Tracey and the late John William Mortimore. 

The grandparents had a brass memorial plaque in their honour erected in the church; they are are also commemorated on the MANATON WAR MEMORIAL 1914 - 1918.
