Eldest of four siblings (David, Walter, Irene and William) who served in WWII, Corporal David Allen Fisher (Service Nos:V125261/49179) initially served in the ACMF (Private; 29th Battalion) from 10 June 1941 and was 'discharged on enlistment on the RAAF' (NAA) on 19 November 1941. Aircraftman I Fisher enlisted at No 1 Recruiting Centre Melbourne - mustered as Flight Rigger, re mustered as Fitter with 'Good knowledge of engines and general workshop practice' (NAA). Promoted to Leading Aircraftman on 1 August 1942, he was attached to No 1 Communication Flight (CF) Essendon and 5 Aircraft Depot Wagga. Corporal Fisher was attached to 11 Repair and Servicing Unit (RSU) at Discharge on 14 February 1946.

Dig was born in Sunbury, Victoria in 1920, second of nine children of Alfred (Alf) Joseph Fisher (b1892 in Narranderra, New South Wales) and Veronica Ellen Falvey (b1899 at Riddells Creek in Victoria). Alf was a Labourer at Almond Flats via Ardlethan in New South Wales in April 1917 when he enlisted in the AIF (Private; Service No:794), and he and Veronica married in September 1917 in Sunbury, Victoria. Following his Discharge from the Army, Alf and Veronica settled in Sunbury, where they raised their family and Alf worked as a Labourer and later as an Asylum Attendant.

Dig worked in Sunbury as a Garage Hand/Mechanic for Sunbury Services Station, and in 1941 was a Truck Driver for Paterson Bros Sunbury). In 1941 in Melbourne, Dig married Mavis Jean Conroy (b1918 in Ararat, Victoria). Following his Discharge from the RAAF, Dig and Mavis settled in Melbourne where they raised their family and Dig was a Process Worker. Mavis died in 1970, and Dig was in Perth in Western Australia in 1975 when he died.
