Military Medal citation:
'During the attack on MONTBREHAIN, east of PERONNE, on 5th October, 1918, Lance Corporal LINCOLN showed consistently brilliant dash and initiative. At all times at great personal risk he kept his Lewis gun in action and engaged enemy strong posts with unqualified success. On one occasion he rushed his gun forward in the face of murderous machine gun fire and fired with such effect that he wiped out an enemy post and forced their advanced posts to retire. Throughout the advance he displayed marked ability in leading his section, and himself established in the face of heavy enemy opposition a strong post on the flank of his Company.'
