Leading Aircraftman Norman Arthur Harris (Service No:128968) enlisted in the RAAF at No 1 Recruiting Centre Melbourne as an Aircraftman I on 27 April 1943 - mustered as Trainee Technical, remustered as Flight Rigger. Promoted to Leading Aircraftman on 1 April 1944, LAC Harris was attached to No 1 School of Technical Training (STT), No 1 Engineering School (ES) Ascot Vale, No 8 Elementary Flying Training School (EFTS) and No i Opertaional Training Unit (OTU) Nhill. t Discharge on 1 April 1946, LAC Harris was attached to No 12 Squadron.

Norm was born in Beaufort, Victoria in 1925, second of four children of Benjamin (Ben) Francis Harris (b1899 in Birchip, Victoria) and Edna Harris Hamblin (b1897 in Foster, Victoria). Ben (a Mechanic) and Edna (a Clerk) married in Melbourne in 1922 and lived in Beaufort, where Ben was a Garage Proprietor before settling in Melbourne where they raised their family and Ben was a Mechanic/Engineer. Ben served in the ACMF in WWII.

Norm worked in Melbourne as an Insurance Clerk with Australian Mutual Fire Insurance and played the cornet in a dance band at night. Following his Discharge, in 1948 in Melbourne Norm married Carmel Therese Mackie (b1926 in Melbourne, Victoria) - Carmel worked as a Cutter in Melbourne. Norm and Carmel settled in Melbourne where Norm was an Insurance Clerk. Norm died in 2004.
