Maxwell Stanley MAINPRIZE was born in Neutral Bay, NSW on 2nd May, 1918

His parents were Rickman MAINPRIZE & Eileen Reed NONMUS who married in Sydney in 1917

He married Margaret Paine BARRY in Christ Church in South Yarra, Victoria in 1947

Max joined the Army (SN 449129) on 24th January, 1939 with the 6th Infantry Battalion of the Royal Melbourne Regiment and was discharged from A Company on 23rd January, 1941 to join the RAAF on 3rd February, 1941 (No. 10 Squadron)

He was discharged from the RAAF on 21st May, 1945 (No. 40 Squadron)

He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC)
