Corporal Stuart Fort (Service No:54205) enlisted in the RAAF on 18 April 1942 at No 1 RAAF Recruiting Centre Melbourne as an Aircraftman I - mustered as Fitter. Promoted to Leading Aircraftman on 24 November 1942, he was attached to No 14 Air Repair Depot (ARD) Ascot Vale and No 7 Service Flying Training School (SFTS) Deniliquin in 1943, and was promoted to Corporal on 12 December 1944. Corporal Fort was attached to 11 Squadron at Discharge on 27 November 1945.
Stuart was born in Carramut, Victoria in 1910, youngest of twelve children of Archibald (Archie) Fort (b1861 in Hamilton, Victoria) and Flora McInnes (b1866 in Hamilton, Victoria). Archie was a Farmer in 1886 when he and Flora married in Hamilton, where they settled and raised their family, and Archie was a Farmer and later a Labourer.
Stuart undertook an apprenticeship with JR Slorach Autos Pty Ltd in Hamilton and served in the Militia. He was a Motor Mechanic in 1932 in Hamilton when he married Eileen Margarte Looker (b1912 in Hamilton, Victoria), and Workshop Foreman in 1940. Following his Discharge, Stuart and Eilleen lived in Hamilton where they raised their family and Stuart was a Motor Mechanic. Following Eileen's death in 1963, Stuart remarried abt 1970 to May Olga Coles (nee Jacobi; b1914 in Ballarat, Victoria). Stuart and May lived in Hamilton, where Stuart was a Manager. Stuart died in 1985 and May in 2002.
