Leading Aircraftman Harold Francis Gough (Service No:124397) enlisted in the RAAF on 21 April 1943 at No 3 Recruiting Centre Brisbane as an Aircraftman I - mustered as General Hand. On 10 December 1943, LAC Gough was attached to No12 Repair and Salvage Unit (RSU) when he embarked from Townsville for Kiriwina, Milne Bay, returning to Townsville in 1 January 1945. LAC Gough was attached to No 38 Squadron at Discharge on 4 January 1946.
Harold was born in Brisbane, QLD in 1914, the second (and only surviving) child) of Harold (Harry) Joseph Gough (b1889 in Maryborough, QLD) and his first wife Violet Maria Cruickshank (b1890 in Brisbane, QLD). Harry (a Motor Mechanic) and Violet married in 1910 in Brisbane, where they settled and raised their fmaily and Harry was a Motor Mechanic and owner of Gough's Garage and Auto Parking Station in Brisbane. Following divorce in 1920, Harry remarried in 1921.
Harold completed a five year apprenticeship at Central Technical College in Brisbane, and was a Motor Mechanic working for his father in 1937 when he married Edna May Neville (b1914 in Brisbane, QLD) - Edna was working as a Waitress in Brisbane. Harold and Edna settled in Brisbane, where they raised their family and Harold was a Motor Mechanic until retirement. Harold died in 1990 and Edna in 1993.
