Flight Lieutenant Stewart Peter Martin (Service No:421815) enlisted in the RAAF on 28 March 1942 at No 2 Recruiting Centre Sydney as an Aircraftman II - mustered as Air Crew. On 14 May 1943 he was appointed to a commission - Pilot Officer - and by November that year was appointed Flying Officer, with experience flying a range of aircraft, including the De Haviland DH82 Tiger Moth, the Wirraway, the CAC, Avro and Ryan Trainers, the Kitty Hawk and the Anson. Flight Lieutenant Martin was attached to 75 Squadron at Discharge on 11 January 1946.
Youngest of three children, Peter was born in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales in 1924 to Arthur Roland Martin (b1893 in Ballarat, Victoria) and Mary (Molly) Mortimer Mouritz (b1892 in Urbana, New South Wales). Arthur (a Farmer) and Molly married in 1916 in Wagga Wagga, and settled in the district (Yarraguudry and Narooma) where they raised their family and Arthur was a Farmer.
Peter was a Jackeroo/Station Hand on the family property at Narooma in 1942 when he enlisted in the RAAF. Returning to Narooma following his Discharge, in 1950 in Holbrook he married Florence (Jean) Grace Ross (b1921 in Sydney, New South Wales) - Florence was living at Noonbah via Holbrook. Peter and Jean settled at Narooma, where they raised their family and Peter was a Farmer. Following Jean's death in 1982, Peter remarried to Lois (b1925) - Lois died in 2006 and Peter died in 2008.
